The Department of Neurodevelopmental Behavioural Medicine (DNBM)

At The Behaviour & Wellbeing Clinic, we are passionate about helping you unlock your full potential and become the best version of yourself. Our team of experienced scientists and therapists offers a range of services to help. That is why we have our own research laboratory that aims to enhance our therapeutic modeling and treatment modalities.

Our Therapeutic Approach

We take a holistic approach to therapy, considering the physical, emotional, and social factors that can impact mental health. Our goal is to help our clients develop the skills and resilience they need to navigate life's challenges.

Our Work

In our research laboratory, we integrate advanced physiological monitoring tools to explore the mind‑body connection:

  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV): Assessing how the autonomic nervous system responds to stress, sensory input, and emotional states.
  • Respiratory Rate (RR): Monitoring breathing patterns to understand their role in self‑regulation, anxiety, and arousal.
  • Electroencephalography (EEG): Capturing real‑time brain activity to study attention, sensory processing, and neural connectivity.
  • Electromyography (EMG): Measuring subtle muscle activity, including facial expressions and postural responses, to gain insight into communication, emotion, and motor control.

By synchronising these biosignals with behavioural observations, we identify patterns that reveal how neurodevelopmental conditions influence physiological regulation and daily functioning. Our research informs personalised interventions, helping to enhance emotional regulation, reduce distress, and improve quality of life.

our therapeutic model

At the Department of Neurodevelopmental Behavioural Medicine, our therapy programs for Behavioural Support and Early Childhood Intervention are grounded in science and powered by discovery. Every strategy we use is informed by our ongoing research into the physiological and behavioural foundations of neurodevelopmental conditions. Using advanced tools such as Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Respiratory Rate (RR), Electroencephalography (EEG), and Electromyography (EMG), we study how the brain and body respond to stress, sensory input, and social interaction. This research allows us to:

  • Tailor interventions to each child’s unique regulation and communication profile
  • Identify early signs of stress or overload before behaviours escalate
  • Develop personalised strategies that promote emotional regulation, learning, and participation

By bridging the gap between cutting‑edge neuroscience and everyday therapy, we ensure that the children and families we support receive interventions that are not only compassionate and practical, but also proven to work.
